Team Run Naturally,
We have come to the end of our final race training week. But this is not your ordinary training week. As we have come to the end of a training week and training cycle and look with anticipation the beginning of a week of recovery, you can call yourselves half marathoners You can call yourselves 10K finishers. You can call yourselves champions.
Successfully completing 13.1 miles is no small feat. For the past five weeks, I watched with pride the way you pushed through your training cycles. I rolled out your training plans week after week and you never complained. You never uttered the words that you could not do it. You found ways to get in your miles. You made time to get in your strength training. We lined up last week to get in our final long training run and felt the sun shine on us and you never wavered. You accepted that it would be a part of the weather conditions for race morning.
Every day this week, I watched with amazement the resolve that you took to crush your race day goals early. You stuck together and relied on each other and shared your energies. You ran in some seriously windy conditions. You ran in the dark. When things got tough at miles 11-12, you dug deep and you knew that you came too far to give up. You trusted your training. You trusted me as your coach.
To my 10K finishers, you all absolutely wowed me this weekend. You amazed and inspired me because you embodied the epitome of Run Naturally - you found inspiration in everything that the group accomplished and you set your own runs in motion. You understand that there truly is strength in numbers. You allowed the positivity from the group to carry you forward. And you did this without me even knowing! I could not have asked for a better group.
Celebrate your victories. Embrace the runners high. Be proud of your accomplishments. Wear your medals with distinction. You have earned it.
Your Run Coach,
Linda
