Sunday Runday

Today is the last day of a short Week One marathon training week with #NikeRunClubCoach. I ran a 10K distance doing laps around my property because here in the #Bahamas we remain in full lock down on the weekends due to #Covid19. Eight miles in total over the last three days, which I felt was a bit much coming from my Nike Training Plan but I sucked it up and covered the distance.

Even in the midst of a national lock down, I can still maintain my appreciation for Sunday running. Lately, I tend to offset the monotony of running in circles around my property with a good podcast. I have been alternating between #AnotherMotherRunner and #SupportIsSexy to divert my attention from the fact that I no longer run along the perfectly paved and manicured sidewalks of the Cable Beach Strip, but rather along the diversity of my yard space - a mix of paved walkways, grass, sharp rocks and square walkways.

This morning, I opted for musical diversion. One of my favorite bands #NoDoubt with some #Pink thrown into the mix, which seemed to tie into the theme on my Nike training shirt #TrainLikeAGirl. Oh the irony. But I digress.

Today's run was more than just a diversion from scenery. This weekend was filled with quiet reflections about my life and my relationships. Somehow, it became a time when I started to verbalize the things that I had been smothering or placing in neat boxes in the back of my mind. I always thought the the beauty of my Sunday running was this physical representation of running from the things that I don't want in the forefront of my mind in that very moment. This morning was different. Even with Gwen Stefani in my earbuds yelling about her platinum blonde life, I ran and ran and thought about my own. Not a platinum blonde one, but you get the idea.

The run and the reflection were okay with me.

How do you use running to deal with the day to day aspects of your life?
